Whitewater Wednesday is a special fundraising event hosted by Whitewater Voyages in partnership with the Kern River Chamber of Commerce. On Wednesday, June 3rd, we are opening up the legendary Lickety Split run for a full day of guided whitewater rafting — with all proceeds benefiting the Kern River Chamber of Commerce.

Whether you are a first-time rafter or a seasoned paddler, the Lickety Split is the perfect adventure: accessible, exhilarating, and set against the stunning granite canyon walls of the Upper Kern. Bring the whole family, gather your friends, and join us for a day that is equal parts adventure and conservation.

Three Forest Service–permitted outfitters — Whitewater Voyages, Sierra South, and Momentum — will each provide two experienced guides and fully equipped rafts. You are in expert hands from the moment you arrive at Riverside Park.

The Details

Trip Options: Single or Double Lickety Split. The “Lickety Split” run is an easy, fun, two-mile, Class II and III stretch of the Upper Kern immediately upstream of the town of Kernville and ends right in town. A Single Lickety is one run and the Double Lickety runs the stretch twice.

Trip Times: 10:00 AM | 12:30 PM | 3:00 PM

Check-In: Arrive 30 minutes before your trip to complete liability release forms

About The 'Lickety Split' Run

The Lickety Split is a two-mile, Class II and III stretch of the Upper Kern River immediately upstream of the town of Kernville. It is widely regarded as one of the most accessible and enjoyable whitewater runs in California — fast enough to get your heart pumping, but welcoming enough for guests as young as 8 years old.

Your adventure begins and ends right at Riverside Park in Kernville, making logistics simple and the scenery spectacular. You will paddle through a gorgeous granite canyon, navigate fun Class II & III rapids, and finish with a well-earned sense of accomplishment.

Safety Requirements

There are personal weight restrictions on all our trips. The minimum weight requirement is 50lbs for kids. The maximum weight limit is 275lbs for adults.

We cannot allow people that have been drinking on our rafts.

Safety Information

Weight Requirements: All participants must weigh at least 50 lbs minimum for children and no more than 275 lbs maximum for adults. These limits exist to ensure every guest can be properly fitted with safety equipment and safely managed on the river.

Age Requirements: Guests must be at least 8 years of age to participate in Whitewater Wednesday trips. All participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian complete the liability release form on their behalf.

No Alcohol Policy: For the safety of all guests and guides no one who has been drinking alcohol will be permitted on the rafts. This policy is strictly enforced and non-negotiable.

Check-In: Please arrive at Riverside Park at least 30 minutes before your scheduled departure to complete liability release forms receive your safety briefing and get fitted for your life jacket and helmet.
